| Professional activities: | Professor Ince's working group is dedicated to translating (patho)physiological concepts and measurements concerning cardiovascular aspects in surgery in intensive care from the lab to the bedside. Research topics include; clinical microcirculation and mitochondrial (dys)function during sepsis, shock and resuscitation; medical technology, specifically optical spectroscopy and imaging; red blood cell function during transfusion in the peri-operative phase; heart, brain, kidney and gut system function, circulation and oxygenation during critical illness; cardiovascular physiological genomics in genetically modified mice; ischemia/reperfusion, cardiothoracic surgery and shock, sepsis and resuscitation; hemoglobin based oxygen carriers; mitochondrial function during hypoxia and inflammation.
Prof. Ince is, as well as the above affiliations, chief scientific officer of Microvision Medical. Microvision Medical is a university based company dedicated to the development of optical spectroscopic tools for study of the microcirculation and tissue oxygenation, in which context CI holds patents and shares. |
